Floating on the water was a key upon a leaf. It was like nothing she had ever seen before, so old and made of bronze, it looked as if it had come out of a fairytale world. She reached for it and little hearts seemed to glimmer in the water. Surely her vision was playing tricks on her.
What door could this go to? She thought as she examined the fancy little key. Turning it over in her hands felt right but she couldn’t say why. Perhaps it opens nothing. Perhaps it opens everything. Either way she wouldn’t let it leave her side. She drops it into her jacket pocket and smiles. It’s warm against her hip, a little secret object all her own.
